This sample of phlogopite is displayed in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Phlogopite is a silicate mineral with fluorine with the composition KMg3(Si3Al)O10(F,OH)2. The sample at left is about 12 cm across and is from Franklin, New Jersey. It is described as phlogopite with calcite.
